- קָמַע(cmp. קָמַט) to press, squeeze; to pass and knot straps. Bekh.30b מעשה באשה … והיתה קוֹמַעַתוכ׳ a woman was married to a ḥaber (חָבֵר), and she fastened the straps of the Tfillin for him, and when afterwards married to a publican, she knotted the custom seals for him; Ab. Zar.39a Ar. (ed. קושרת); Tosef.Dem.II, 17. Tosef.Kel.B. Mets. VI, 1 הסנדל משיִקְמַע the sandal is susceptible of uncleanness when the straps are attached.
